Stanford PD Sling-Bag

As part of the Stanford Product Design Engineering capstone, designed a compact ergonomic sling bag for everyday carry. Led full-cycle exploration from user research and pain point analysis through sketching, prototyping, material testing, ergonomics, and manufacturing-informed iteration. Focused on understanding how people move and carry items in daily life; prioritized comfort, accessibility, and natural body fit while keeping a compact, practical form.

User Research

Conducted interviews and observations with active individuals to understand real-world carry challenges. Key insights included frustration with oversized backpacks, discomfort during movement, and the need for quick access to essentials like water, phones, and keys. These human-centered findings directly shaped the design, ensuring the sling bag addressed actual user pain points rather than assumptions.

Soft-Goods Design Process

Through interviews with active people, we discovered modern backpacks were often too large and heavy for daily needs. Users wanted something flexible for carrying just the essentials. From rough diagrams to sewn prototypes, I focused on natural balance, easy access, and dynamic fit during movement.
